Easter 1948 and 1949

These are pictures of  Grace and Locket Hubbard's grandchildren taken at their house in Bearden, Arkansas.  The children are Jimmy Hubbard, son of Fulton Hubbard, Johnny Hubbard, son of Fulton Hubbard, Jo Carol Hubbard, daughter of Joe Hubbard, and Beth Hubbard, daughter of Joe Hubbard.

My Mother (Marjorie Ruth David Hubbard) and my Grandmother (Elva Elizabeth McCaskill David) went through these photos and put on the names and relationships on the back.  Some have the dates and I have listed those under the photos.

Hugh McCaskill, Elva Elizabeth McCaskill David's bother.
He died in a fire in his store.  He was asleep in the back
and did not get out.

Roland Jones, son of Dora McCaskill Jones, Elva David's half-sister.
Roland and a brother died of diphtheria within a day of each other.

This was Hugh McCaskill's store.  The one he died in when it burned.

California Trip 1953

Most of these photos were overexposed and I had to work to get them to show up.  The light out west is very intense and there was no way to adjust the Kodak box camera for the light.  There were six of us in the car.  Mother David (Elva Elizabeth David), PaPa (James Lewis David), Mother (Marjorie Hubbard), Beth, Olene and I (Jo Carol Hubbard).

I wanted to ride a mule down into the Canyon but
to Mother's great relief I was not old enough.
I have been back recently and you could not
pay me to take that ride today.

Arkansas Vacation Trip 1951

When we visited Roaring River State Park in MO the river came out of the cave and Roared.
We went back in the 1970'a and there was a sign that said the rived roared when
there was a lot of rain but it was not roaring when we were there.
I went back 3 years ago and the river did not roar and there was no sign
saying it ever roared.  A clear example of who we are affecting the amount of water around
today.  This is Beth and Jo Carol.
